66 AN ACT
77 relating to the establishment of an innovative workforce training
88 center in the Rio Grande Valley.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Subchapter F, Chapter 130, Education Code, is
1111 amended by adding Section 130.094 to read as follows:
1212 Sec. 130.094. INNOVATIVE WORKFORCE TRAINING CENTER. (a) In
1313 this section, "training center" means the Innovative Workforce
1414 Training Center established under this section.
1515 (b) The Innovative Workforce Training Center is established
1616 to develop and provide initial and continuing education and
1717 training for workers in the Rio Grande Valley, including education
1818 and training in the following specific areas:
1919 (1) welding;
2020 (2) civil, commercial, residential, and industrial
2121 construction;
2222 (3) installing electrical systems;
2323 (4) installing heating, ventilation, and
2424 air-conditioning systems; and
2525 (5) mechatronics.
2626 (c) Texas Southmost College shall administer the training
2727 center. The headquarters of the training center are located at
2828 Texas Southmost College in Brownsville. The training center may
2929 use property and facilities owned or leased by Texas Southmost
3030 College.
3131 (d) The training center may solicit and accept gifts and
3232 grants from any public or private source for purposes of this
3333 section. The legislature may appropriate money for purposes of
3434 this section.
3535 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
