8 | 8 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
9 | 9 | SECTION 1. Section 397.0125(a), Transportation Code, is | |
10 | 10 | amended to read as follows: | |
11 | 11 | (a) In addition to the penalty provided by Section 397.012, | |
12 | 12 | a person who operates an automotive wrecking and salvage yard in | |
13 | 13 | violation of this chapter is liable for a civil penalty of not less | |
14 | 14 | than $500 or more than $5,000 [$1,000] for each violation. A | |
15 | 15 | separate penalty may be imposed for each day a continuing violation | |
16 | 16 | occurs. | |
17 | 17 | SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only | |
18 | 18 | to a violation of Chapter 397, Transportation Code, that occurs on | |
19 | 19 | or after the effective date of this Act. A violation of that | |
20 | 20 | chapter that occurred before the effective date of this Act is | |
21 | 21 | governed by the law in effect when the violation occurred, and the | |
22 | 22 | former law is continued in effect for that purpose. | |
23 | 23 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
