| 10 | 10 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 11 | 11 | SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 644, Transportation Code, | |
| 12 | 12 | is amended by adding Section 644.055 to read as follows: | |
| 13 | 13 | Sec. 644.055. DOCUMENTATION VERIFYING VEHICLE'S INTERIOR | |
| 14 | 14 | WAS CLEANED. To the extent allowed by federal law, the director | |
| 15 | 15 | shall adopt a rule requiring an operator of a commercial motor | |
| 16 | 16 | vehicle that is transporting cargo across the border between this | |
| 17 | 17 | state and the United Mexican States to provide, on the request of a | |
| 18 | 18 | person inspecting the vehicle or cargo, documentation verifying to | |
| 19 | 19 | the satisfaction of the person making the request that the interior | |
| 20 | 20 | of the vehicle, including the interior of a trailer or semitrailer, | |
| 21 | 21 | was cleaned and washed before the vehicle's cargo was loaded. | |
| 22 | 22 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
| 23 | 23 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
| 24 | 24 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
| 25 | 25 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
| 26 | 26 | Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
