104 AN ACT
115 relating to exemptions from continuing education requirements for
126 certain county commissioners.
137 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
148 SECTION 1. Section 81.0025(e), Local Government Code, is
159 amended to read as follows:
1610 (e) This section does not apply to a county commissioner
1711 who:
1812 (1) serves in a county with a population of 1.3 million
1913 or more;
2014 (2) meets at least one of the following requirements:
2115 (A) has served continuously for 12 years or more;
2216 or
2317 (B) is an attorney licensed to practice law in
2418 this state for 12 years or more and has completed at least 64 hours
2519 of continuing education approved by the County Judges and
2620 Commissioners Association of Texas; and
2721 (3) attends at least 15 hours of staff briefing on
2822 continuing education subjects in each 12-month period as approved
2923 by the County Judges and Commissioners Association of Texas.
3024 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
3125 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
3226 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
3327 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
3428 Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
