66 AN ACT
77 relating to state government worksite breast-feeding policies.
88 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
99 SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 165, Health and Safety
1010 Code, is amended by adding Section 165.005 to read as follows:
1111 Sec. 165.005. STATE GOVERNMENT "MOTHER-FRIENDLY" WORKSITE.
1212 (a) In this section, "state agency" means a board, commission,
1313 office, department, or other agency in the executive, judicial, or
1414 legislative branch of state government, including an institution of
1515 higher education.
1616 (b) To the extent reasonably practicable, each state agency
1717 shall develop a policy supporting the practice of worksite
1818 breast-feeding under Section 165.003 and submit its policy to the
1919 department.
2020 (c) The department shall include each state agency that
2121 develops a policy under this section on the list of
2222 "mother-friendly" businesses under Section 165.003.
2323 SECTION 2. A state agency shall comply with Section
2424 165.005, Health and Safety Code, as added by this Act, not later
2525 than September 1, 2017.
2626 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2727 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2828 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2929 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
3030 Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
