| 7 | 7 | | relating to individual indemnity health insurance. |

| 8 | 8 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 9 | 9 | | SECTION 1. Section 1201.104(a), Insurance Code, is amended |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | to read as follows: |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | (a) For individual accident and health insurance policies, |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | the commissioner shall adopt rules establishing minimum standards |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | for benefits under each of the following categories of coverage: |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | (1) basic hospital expense; |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | (2) basic medical-surgical expense; |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | (3) hospital [confinement] indemnity or other fixed |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | indemnity; |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | (4) major medical expense; |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | (5) disability income protection; |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | (6) accident only; |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | (7) specified disease; |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | (8) specified accident; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | (9) limited benefit. |

| 24 | 24 | | SECTION 2. Not later than January 1, 2016, the commissioner |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | of insurance shall adopt any rules necessary to implement Section |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | 1201.104, Insurance Code, as amended by this Act. |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
