55 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
66 AN ACT
77 relating to occupational license application and examination fees
88 for certain military service members, military veterans, and
99 military spouses.
1010 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1111 SECTION 1. Chapter 55, Occupations Code, is amended by
1212 adding Section 55.009 to read as follows:
1313 Sec. 55.009. LICENSE APPLICATION AND EXAMINATION FEES.
1414 Notwithstanding any other law, a state agency that issues a license
1515 shall waive the license application and examination fees for an
1616 applicant who is:
1717 (1) a military service member or military veteran
1818 whose military service, training, or education substantially meets
1919 all of the requirements for the license; or
2020 (2) a military service member, military veteran, or
2121 military spouse who holds a current license issued by another
2222 jurisdiction that has licensing requirements that are
2323 substantially equivalent to the requirements for the license in
2424 this state.
2525 SECTION 2. The changes in law made by this Act apply only to
2626 an application for an occupational license filed on or after the
2727 effective date of this Act. An application for a license filed
2828 before the effective date of this Act is governed by the law in
2929 effect immediately before that date, and that law is continued in
3030 effect for that purpose.
3131 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
