| 10 | 10 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 11 | 11 | | SECTION 1. Chapter 55, Occupations Code, is amended by |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | adding Section 55.009 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Sec. 55.009. LICENSE APPLICATION AND EXAMINATION FEES. |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Notwithstanding any other law, a state agency that issues a license |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | shall waive the license application and examination fees for an |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | applicant who is: |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | (1) a military service member or military veteran |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | whose military service, training, or education substantially meets |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | all of the requirements for the license; or |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | (2) a military service member, military veteran, or |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | military spouse who holds a current license issued by another |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | jurisdiction that has licensing requirements that are |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | substantially equivalent to the requirements for the license in |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | this state. |

| 25 | 25 | | SECTION 2. The changes in law made by this Act apply only to |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | an application for an occupational license filed on or after the |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | effective date of this Act. An application for a license filed |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | before the effective date of this Act is governed by the law in |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | effect immediately before that date, and that law is continued in |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | effect for that purpose. |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
