9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 82, Government Code, is | |
11 | 11 | amended by adding Section 82.025 to read as follows: | |
12 | 12 | Sec. 82.025. ATTORNEY LICENSED IN ANOTHER STATE. (a) | |
13 | 13 | Notwithstanding Sections 82.0241 and 82.036, an attorney licensed | |
14 | 14 | to practice law in another state is eligible to take the state's bar | |
15 | 15 | examination regardless of whether the attorney has completed law | |
16 | 16 | study in an approved law school as required by Section 82.024 if the | |
17 | 17 | attorney: | |
18 | 18 | (1) is a United States citizen; and | |
19 | 19 | (2) satisfies all other requirements to be licensed in | |
20 | 20 | this state. | |
21 | 21 | (b) The same procedures and deadlines apply to an attorney | |
22 | 22 | eligible to take the examination under this section as apply to an | |
23 | 23 | attorney licensed in another state who has completed the law study | |
24 | 24 | requirements in Section 82.024. | |
25 | 25 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
