| 14 | 7 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 15 | 8 | | SECTION 1. Section 548.102(a), Transportation Code, is |
|---|
| 16 | 9 | | amended to read as follows: |
|---|
| 17 | 10 | | (a) The initial inspection period is two years for a |
|---|
| 18 | 11 | | passenger car or light truck that: |
|---|
| 19 | 12 | | (1) is sold in this state or purchased by a commercial |
|---|
| 20 | 13 | | fleet buyer described by Section 501.0234(b)(4) for use in this |
|---|
| 21 | 14 | | state; |
|---|
| 22 | 15 | | (2) has not been previously registered in this or |
|---|
| 23 | 16 | | another state; and |
|---|
| 24 | 17 | | (3) on the date of sale is of the current or preceding |
|---|
| 25 | 18 | | model year. |
|---|
| 26 | 19 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 27 | 20 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 28 | 21 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 29 | 22 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 30 | 23 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
