9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 157.021(a), Local Government Code, is | |
11 | 11 | amended to read as follows: | |
12 | 12 | (a) In a county with a population of 355,000 or more or | |
13 | 13 | covered by a county civil service system created under Subchapter | |
14 | 14 | A, Chapter 158, the commissioners court may adopt and enforce | |
15 | 15 | uniform rules on the hours of work of department heads, assistants, | |
16 | 16 | deputies, and other employees whose compensation is set or approved | |
17 | 17 | by the court. | |
18 | 18 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
19 | 19 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
20 | 20 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
21 | 21 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
22 | 22 | Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
