99 relating to consideration by the board of trustees of a school
1010 district of parental complaints concerning student participation
1111 in extracurricular activities.
1212 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1313 SECTION 1. Section 26.011, Education Code, is amended to
1414 read as follows:
1515 Sec. 26.011. COMPLAINTS. (a) The board of trustees of each
1616 school district shall adopt a grievance procedure under which the
1717 board shall address each complaint that the board receives
1818 concerning violation of a right guaranteed by this chapter.
1919 (b) The board of trustees of a school district is not
2020 required by Subsection (a) or Section 11.1511(b)(13) to address a
2121 complaint that the board receives concerning a student's
2222 participation in an extracurricular activity that does not involve
2323 a violation of a right guaranteed by this chapter.
2424 SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2015-2016
2525 school year.
2626 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2727 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2828 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2929 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
3030 Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
