| 8 | 8 | | veterans and other military personnel taking the hunter education |

| 10 | 10 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 11 | 11 | | SECTION 1. Section 62.014, Parks and Wildlife Code, is |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | amended by adding Subsection (e-1) to read as follows: |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | (e-1) For purposes of this subsection, "qualified disabled |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | veteran" has the meaning assigned by Section 42.012. The department |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | shall waive the fee authorized under Subsection (e) for a person |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | exempt from completing the live firing portion of a hunter |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | education course under Subsection (n) or a qualified disabled |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | veteran if the exempt person or disabled veteran takes an online |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | version of the hunter education course. A provider of the online |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | course may not collect the fee from an exempt person or a qualified |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | disabled veteran. |

| 22 | 22 | | SECTION 2. The Parks and Wildlife Commission shall adopt |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | any rules necessary to implement Section 62.014(e-1), Parks and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Wildlife Code, as added by this Act, not later than August 1, 2016. |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | SECTION 3. Section 1 of this Act takes effect September 1, |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | 2016. |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | SECTION 4. Except as provided by Section 3 of this Act, this |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Act takes effect immediately if it receives a vote of two-thirds of |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | all the members elected to each house, as provided by Section 39, |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Article III, Texas Constitution. If this Act does not receive the |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | vote necessary for immediate effect, this Act takes effect |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | September 1, 2015. |
