9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 21.044(c-1), Education Code, is amended | |
11 | 11 | to read as follows: | |
12 | 12 | (c-1) Any minimum academic qualifications for a certificate | |
13 | 13 | specified under Subsection (a) that require a person to possess a | |
14 | 14 | bachelor's degree must also require that the person receive, as | |
15 | 15 | part of the training required to obtain that certificate, | |
16 | 16 | instruction regarding mental health, substance abuse, and youth | |
17 | 17 | suicide. The instruction required must be provided through a | |
18 | 18 | program selected from the list of recommended best practice-based | |
19 | 19 | programs established under Section 161.325, Health and Safety Code | |
20 | 20 | [in detection of students with mental or emotional disorders]. | |
21 | 21 | SECTION 2. Section 21.044(c-2), Education Code, is | |
22 | 22 | repealed. | |
23 | 23 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
