| 10 | 10 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 11 | 11 | SECTION 1. Subchapter Z, Chapter 2252, Government Code, is | |
| 12 | 12 | amended by adding Section 2252.908 to read as follows: | |
| 13 | 13 | Sec. 2252.908. CERTAIN CONTRACTS PROHIBITED. (a) In this | |
| 14 | 14 | section, "governmental entity" includes a state agency and a toll | |
| 15 | 15 | project entity as defined by Section 372.001, Transportation Code. | |
| 16 | 16 | (b) A governmental entity may not enter into any contract or | |
| 17 | 17 | other agreement with a credit services organization or a credit | |
| 18 | 18 | access business, as those terms are defined by Chapter 393, Finance | |
| 19 | 19 | Code. | |
| 20 | 20 | SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only | |
| 21 | 21 | to a contract or other agreement that is entered into or renewed on | |
| 22 | 22 | or after the effective date of this Act. A contract or other | |
| 23 | 23 | agreement entered into or renewed before the effective date of this | |
| 24 | 24 | Act is governed by the law as it existed immediately before the | |
| 25 | 25 | effective date of this Act, and that law is continued in effect for | |
| 26 | 26 | that purpose. | |
| 27 | 27 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
