| 10 | 10 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 11 | 11 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 61, Education Code, is |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | amended by adding Section 61.09052 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Sec. 61.09052. STUDY REGARDING ESTABLISHMENT OF CAMPUS |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | EXTENSION OF LAW SCHOOL; EL PASO. (a) The board shall conduct a |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | study to examine the need for and feasibility of establishing in El |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Paso a campus extension of an existing public law school of this |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | state. The study must include an analysis of potential locations |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | for establishment of the campus extension within that municipality |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | and must identify the public law school or schools that would be the |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | best suited to support a campus extension described by this |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | section. |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | (b) Not later than November 1, 2016, the board shall report |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | the results of the study required by Subsection (a) to the governor, |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | lieutenant governor, speaker of the house of representatives, and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | presiding officer of each legislative standing committee with |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | primary jurisdiction over higher education. |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | (c) This section expires January 31, 2017. |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
