| 11 | 11 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 12 | 12 | | SECTION 1. Section 201.009, Local Government Code, is |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | amended by adding Subsection (d) to read as follows: |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | (d) A local government with a population of 10,000 or more |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | that maintains an Internet website must prominently display and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | maintain on the main page of that website: |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | (1) a link to a web page maintained by the local |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | government that is clearly identified as a web page on which a |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | person may submit an electronic request for public information |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | under Chapter 552, Government Code; or |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | (2) an e-mail address monitored by an officer or |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | employee of the local government that is clearly identified as a |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | method by which a person may request and receive information |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | regarding how to submit a request for public information under |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Chapter 552, Government Code. |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect January 1, 2016. |
