55 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
66 AN ACT
77 relating to the authority of the asset management division of the
88 General Land Office to sell real property to a federally recognized
99 Indian tribe.
1010 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1111 SECTION 1. Section 31.0672(a), Natural Resources Code, is
1212 amended to read as follows:
1313 (a) The division may directly sell to a political
1414 subdivision, [or] a development corporation organized under
1515 Subtitle C1, Title 12, Local Government Code, or a federally
1616 recognized Indian tribe, as listed by the United States secretary
1717 of the interior under 25 U.S.C. Section 479a-1, any real property
1818 owned by the state that the legislature has authorized or the
1919 governor has approved for sale under Subchapter E if the
2020 commissioner determines the sale is in the best interest of the
2121 state.
2222 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2323 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2424 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2525 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2626 Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
