66 AN ACT
77 relating to changing the name of the Medical Advisory Committee
88 appointed by the Texas Commission of Licensing and Regulation to
99 the Combative Sports Advisory Board.
1010 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1111 SECTION 1. Section 2052.055, Occupations Code, is amended
1212 to read as follows:
1313 Sec. 2052.055. COMBATIVE SPORTS [MEDICAL] ADVISORY BOARD
1414 [COMMITTEE]. (a) The presiding officer of the commission, with the
1515 commission's approval, may appoint a combative sports [medical]
1616 advisory board [committee] to advise the department concerning
1717 health issues for combative sports event contestants.
1818 (b) If the commission elects to appoint an advisory board
1919 [committee], the commission by rule shall establish:
2020 (1) the number of board [committee] members;
2121 (2) qualifications for appointment to the board
2222 [committee]; and
2323 (3) the purpose and duties of the board [committee].
2424 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
