9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Sections 84.007(c) and (d), Election Code, are | |
11 | 11 | amended to read as follows: | |
12 | 12 | (c) An application must be submitted on or after the 60th | |
13 | 13 | day before election day and before 5 p.m. [the close of regular | |
14 | 14 | business in the early voting clerk's office or 12 noon, whichever is | |
15 | 15 | later,] on the 11th [ninth] day before election day unless that day | |
16 | 16 | is a Saturday, Sunday, or legal state or national holiday, in which | |
17 | 17 | case the last day is the first preceding regular business day. | |
18 | 18 | (d) An application is considered to be submitted on the | |
19 | 19 | earlier of: | |
20 | 20 | (1) [at] the time of its receipt by the clerk; or | |
21 | 21 | (2) the time indicated on the cancellation mark of a | |
22 | 22 | recognized postal service or a receipt mark of a common or contract | |
23 | 23 | carrier or a courier. | |
24 | 24 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
