| 9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 707.017(a), Transportation Code, is | |
| 11 | 11 | amended to read as follows: | |
| 12 | 12 | (a) If the owner of a motor vehicle is delinquent in the | |
| 13 | 13 | payment of a civil penalty imposed under this chapter, the county | |
| 14 | 14 | assessor-collector or the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles may | |
| 15 | 15 | not refuse to register, under Section 502.010 or any other law, a | |
| 16 | 16 | motor vehicle alleged to have been involved in the violation. | |
| 17 | 17 | SECTION 2. Section 707.017(b), Transportation Code, is | |
| 18 | 18 | repealed. | |
| 19 | 19 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
| 20 | 20 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
| 21 | 21 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
| 22 | 22 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
| 23 | 23 | Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
