55 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
66 AN ACT
77 relating to allowing a person to register a motor vehicle when
88 delinquent in the payment of certain civil penalties.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Section 707.017(a), Transportation Code, is
1111 amended to read as follows:
1212 (a) If the owner of a motor vehicle is delinquent in the
1313 payment of a civil penalty imposed under this chapter, the county
1414 assessor-collector or the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles may
1515 not refuse to register, under Section 502.010 or any other law, a
1616 motor vehicle alleged to have been involved in the violation.
1717 SECTION 2. Section 707.017(b), Transportation Code, is
1818 repealed.
1919 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2020 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2121 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2222 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2323 Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
