55 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
66 AN ACT
77 relating to the eligibility of certain students to participate in a
88 school district's special education program.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Section 29.003, Education Code, is amended by
1111 adding Subsection (c) to read as follows:
1212 (c) Notwithstanding Subsection (b), a student who is 21
1313 years of age or older and under 26 years of age is eligible to
1414 participate in a school district's special education program if the
1515 student is otherwise eligible for the program as provided by this
1616 section, and the school district admits students who are 21 years of
1717 age or older and under 26 years of age in accordance with Section
1818 25.001(b).
1919 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2020 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2121 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2222 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2323 Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
