77 relating to identifying teen pregnancy crisis areas.
88 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
99 SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 531, Government Code, is
1010 amended by adding Section 531.0997 to read as follows:
1111 Sec. 531.0997. TEEN PREGNANCY CRISIS AREA REPORT. (a) In
1212 this section, "teen pregnancy crisis area" means a zip code area in
1313 which the teen birth rate is at least two times the national teen
1414 birth rate.
1515 (b) The commission, using information available from the
1616 Department of State Health Services and the United States Centers
1717 for Disease Control and Prevention or other information the
1818 commission determines is reliable, shall prepare an annual report
1919 on teen pregnancy crisis areas.
2020 (c) The report must include:
2121 (1) a list of teen pregnancy crisis areas; and
2222 (2) a list of zip code areas that were classified as
2323 teen pregnancy crisis areas during the previous year, but are no
2424 longer teen pregnancy crisis areas.
2525 (d) Not later than December 1 of each year, the commission
2626 shall post the report on the commission's Internet website.
2727 SECTION 2. Not later than December 1, 2015, the Health and
2828 Human Services Commission shall prepare and post on the
2929 commission's Internet website the initial report required under
3030 Section 531.0997, Government Code, as added by this Act.
3131 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
3232 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
3333 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
3434 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
3535 Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
