9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Subchapter H, Chapter 201, Transportation Code, | |
11 | 11 | is amended by adding Section 201.623 to read as follows: | |
12 | 12 | Sec. 201.623. UNATTENDED CHILDREN IN MOTOR VEHICLES | |
13 | 13 | AWARENESS. (a) Using existing resources, the department shall | |
14 | 14 | establish a plan to increase public awareness of the danger of | |
15 | 15 | leaving a child unattended in a closed motor vehicle during hot or | |
16 | 16 | sunny weather through an existing system of dynamic message signs | |
17 | 17 | to be activated on days when the outdoor temperature exceeds 85 | |
18 | 18 | degrees Fahrenheit. | |
19 | 19 | (b) The department may confer and cooperate with the | |
20 | 20 | Department of Family and Protective Services and the Department of | |
21 | 21 | Public Safety of the State of Texas to establish the plan under | |
22 | 22 | Subsection (a). | |
23 | 23 | (c) The commission shall adopt rules to implement this | |
24 | 24 | section. | |
25 | 25 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
