1010 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1111 SECTION 1. Section 242.040, Health and Safety Code, is
1212 amended by adding Subsection (g) to read as follows:
1313 (g) The executive commissioner by rule shall adopt a
1414 definition of "Alzheimer's disease and related disorders," and may
1515 adopt by reference a definition published in a generally accepted
1616 clinical resource for medical professionals. The executive
1717 commissioner shall modify the definition as necessary to conform to
1818 changes in medical practice.
1919 SECTION 2. Section 247.029, Health and Safety Code, is
2020 amended by adding Subsection (d) to read as follows:
21- (d) The executive commissioner of the Health and Human
22- Services Commission by rule shall adopt a definition of
23- "Alzheimer's disease and related disorders," and may adopt by
24- reference a definition published in a generally accepted clinical
25- resource for medical professionals. The executive commissioner
26- shall modify the definition as necessary to conform to changes in
27- medical practice.

2827 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2928 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
3029 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
3130 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
3231 Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
