| 9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Subchapter D, Chapter 261, Family Code, is | |
| 11 | 11 | amended by adding Section 261.317 to read as follows: | |
| 12 | 12 | Sec. 261.317. LAW ENFORCEMENT INVESTIGATION FOLLOWING | |
| 13 | 13 | REMOVAL OF CHILD. If a child who is the subject of a report of abuse | |
| 14 | 14 | or neglect is removed from the child's home, the department shall | |
| 15 | 15 | notify the local law enforcement agency of the removal and the local | |
| 16 | 16 | law enforcement agency shall conduct its own investigation of the | |
| 17 | 17 | report of abuse or neglect. | |
| 18 | 18 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
