215 relating to allocation of money from the law enforcement officer
226 standards and education fund.
237 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
248 SECTION 1. The heading to Section 1701.157, Occupations
259 Code, is amended to read as follows:
2610 Sec. 1701.157. MONEY ALLOCATED AND USED FOR TRAINING OR
2711 CONTINUING EDUCATION.
2812 SECTION 2. Section 1701.157(a), Occupations Code, is
2913 amended to read as follows:
3014 (a) Not later than March 1 of each calendar year, the
3115 comptroller shall allocate money deposited during the preceding
3216 calendar year in the general revenue fund to the credit of the law
3317 enforcement officer standards and education fund account for
3418 expenses related to the continuing education of persons licensed
3519 under this chapter as follows:
3620 (1) 20 percent of the money is allocated to all local
3721 law enforcement agencies in this state in equal shares; and
3822 (2) 80 percent of the money is allocated to all local
3923 law enforcement agencies in this state in a share representing a
4024 fixed amount for each position in the agency, as of January 1 of the
4125 preceding calendar year, that is reserved to a person who:
4226 (A) is licensed under this chapter;
4327 (B) works as a peace officer or telecommunicator,
4428 as defined by Section 1701.001, on the average of at least 32 hours
4529 a week; and
4630 (C) is compensated by a political subdivision of
4731 this state at least at the minimum wage and is entitled to all
4832 employee benefits offered to a peace officer or telecommunicator,
4933 as applicable, by the political subdivision.
5034 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
