| 7 | 7 | | relating to the amount the Texas Military Preparedness Commission |

| 8 | 8 | | may grant to local governmental entities for certain purposes. |

| 9 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 10 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Sections 436.202(b) and (c), Government Code, |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | are amended to read as follows: |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | (b) The commission may not make a grant for an amount less |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | than $50,000 or an amount more than the lesser of: |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | (1) 50 percent of the amount of matching money or |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | investment that the local governmental entity is required to |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | provide, subject to Subsection (c); |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | (2) 50 percent of the local governmental entity's |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | investment for purposes described by Section 436.203 if federal |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | assistance is unavailable; or |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | (3) $5 [$2] million. |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | (c) If the local governmental entity demonstrates to the |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | commission that, because of a limited budget, the entity lacks the |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | resources necessary to provide 50 percent of the amount of matching |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | money or investment that the entity is required to provide, the |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | commission may make a grant in an amount of not more than 80 percent |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | of the amount of that matching money or investment requirement but |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | may not make a grant in an amount that exceeds $5 [$2] million. |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
