55 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
66 AN ACT
77 relating to the amount the Texas Military Preparedness Commission
88 may grant to local governmental entities for certain purposes.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Sections 436.202(b) and (c), Government Code,
1111 are amended to read as follows:
1212 (b) The commission may not make a grant for an amount less
1313 than $50,000 or an amount more than the lesser of:
1414 (1) 50 percent of the amount of matching money or
1515 investment that the local governmental entity is required to
1616 provide, subject to Subsection (c);
1717 (2) 50 percent of the local governmental entity's
1818 investment for purposes described by Section 436.203 if federal
1919 assistance is unavailable; or
2020 (3) $5 [$2] million.
2121 (c) If the local governmental entity demonstrates to the
2222 commission that, because of a limited budget, the entity lacks the
2323 resources necessary to provide 50 percent of the amount of matching
2424 money or investment that the entity is required to provide, the
2525 commission may make a grant in an amount of not more than 80 percent
2626 of the amount of that matching money or investment requirement but
2727 may not make a grant in an amount that exceeds $5 [$2] million.
2828 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2929 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
3030 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
3131 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
3232 Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
