| 14 | 7 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 15 | 8 | | SECTION 1. Section 141.065, Election Code, is amended by |
|---|
| 16 | 9 | | adding Subsection (c) to read as follows: |
|---|
| 17 | 10 | | (c) A single notarized affidavit by any person who obtained |
|---|
| 18 | 11 | | signatures is valid for all signatures gathered by the person if the |
|---|
| 19 | 12 | | date of notarization is on or after the date of the last signature |
|---|
| 20 | 13 | | obtained by the person. |
|---|
| 21 | 14 | | SECTION 2. Subchapter C, Chapter 141, Election Code, is |
|---|
| 22 | 15 | | amended by adding Section 141.071 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 23 | 16 | | Sec. 141.071. CORRECTION OF PETITION. A petition may be |
|---|
| 24 | 17 | | corrected and additional signatures presented to the appropriate |
|---|
| 25 | 18 | | authority after it has been initially filed but not after the |
|---|
| 26 | 19 | | deadline for filing the petition. |
|---|
| 27 | 20 | | SECTION 3. The changes in law made by this Act apply to a |
|---|
| 28 | 21 | | petition circulated on or after the effective date of this Act. A |
|---|
| 29 | 22 | | petition circulated before the effective date of this Act is |
|---|
| 30 | 23 | | governed by the law in effect on the date the petition is |
|---|
| 31 | 24 | | circulated, and the former law is continued in effect for that |
|---|
| 32 | 25 | | purpose. |

| 33 | 26 | | SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
