55 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
66 AN ACT
77 relating to longevity pay for certain state employees.
88 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
99 SECTION 1. Section 659.042, Government Code, is amended to
1010 read as follows:
1111 Sec. 659.042. EXCLUSIONS. The following are not entitled
1212 to longevity pay under this subchapter:
1313 (1) a member of the legislature;
1414 (2) an individual who holds a statewide office that is
1515 normally filled by vote of the people, except as provided by Section
1616 659.0445;
1717 (3) an independent contractor or an employee of an
1818 independent contractor;
1919 (4) a temporary employee;
2020 (5) an officer or employee of a public junior college;
2121 (6) an academic employee of a state institution of
2222 higher education; [or]
2323 (7) a state employee who retired from state employment
2424 on or after June 1, 2005, and who receives an annuity based wholly
2525 or partly on service as a state officer or state employee in a
2626 public retirement system, as defined by Section 802.001, that was
2727 credited to the state employee; or
2828 (8) a state employee who first begins state employment
2929 on or after September 1, 2015.
3030 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
