66 AN ACT
77 relating to the filing of a complaint with the Railroad Commission
88 of Texas.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 81, Natural Resources
1111 Code, is amended by adding Section 81.0593 to read as follows:
1212 Sec. 81.0593. COMPLAINT FILING ASSISTANCE. The commission
1313 shall establish:
1414 (1) a method by which a person may submit a written
1515 complaint to the commission:
1616 (A) through e-mail in a manner that allows the
1717 commission to provide follow-up assistance in identifying and
1818 obtaining information necessary for the commission to begin
1919 investigating the complaint; or
2020 (B) through a user-friendly format provided on
2121 the commission's Internet website that helps users identify the
2222 information necessary for the commission to begin investigating the
2323 complaint; and
2424 (2) a toll-free telephone number through which a
2525 person may obtain assistance in filing a written complaint with the
2626 commission.
2727 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2828 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2929 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
3030 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
3131 Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
