| 9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Chapter 140, Local Government Code, is amended | |
| 11 | 11 | by adding Section 140.008 to read as follows: | |
| 12 | 12 | Sec. 140.008. FISCAL IMPACT DOCUMENTS POSTED ON INTERNET. | |
| 13 | 13 | (a) In this section, "fiscal impact document" means a document that | |
| 14 | 14 | states or analyzes the fiscal impact of a potential expenditure. | |
| 15 | 15 | (b) A county or municipality that maintains an Internet | |
| 16 | 16 | website shall post on the website each fiscal impact document | |
| 17 | 17 | created or used by the county or municipality that relates to an | |
| 18 | 18 | approved expenditure of the county or municipality of more than | |
| 19 | 19 | $50,000. | |
| 20 | 20 | (c) The county or municipality shall post the documents as | |
| 21 | 21 | soon as practicable after the expenditure has been approved. | |
| 22 | 22 | SECTION 2. The changes in law made by this Act apply only to | |
| 23 | 23 | an expenditure approved on or after the effective date of this Act. | |
| 24 | 24 | An expenditure approved before the effective date of this Act is | |
| 25 | 25 | governed by the law in effect on the date the expenditure was | |
| 26 | 26 | approved, and the former law is continued in effect for that | |
| 27 | 27 | purpose. | |
| 28 | 28 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
