97 relating to the creation of a pilot program for the purpose of
108 controlling certain predatory animals.
119 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1210 SECTION 1. DEFINITIONS. In this Act:
1311 (1) "Extension service" means the Texas A&M AgriLife
1412 Extension Service.
1513 (2) "Predatory animals" means coyotes and feral hogs.
1614 SECTION 2. PILOT PROGRAM. (a) The Parks and Wildlife
1715 Department and the extension service jointly shall create and
1816 administer a pilot program to make grants for the control of
1917 predatory animals to a county or a nonprofit organization located
2018 or operating in a county that:
2119 (1) has a population less than 3,000;
2220 (2) contains a state natural area; and
2321 (3) is adjacent to two counties that border the United
2422 Mexican States.
2523 (b) The Parks and Wildlife Commission, in consultation with
2624 the extension service, shall adopt rules to implement the pilot
2725 program, including rules to govern:
2826 (1) the qualifications for receiving a grant,
2927 including the qualifications for nonprofit organizations;
3028 (2) grant amounts; and
3129 (3) conditions for the use of grant money.
3230 SECTION 3. EXPIRATION DATE. This Act expires September 1,
3331 2017.
3432 SECTION 4. EFFECTIVE DATE. This Act takes effect September
3533 1, 2015.
