55 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
66 AN ACT
77 relating to statements made by an election officer in a joint
88 primary election.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Section 172.126, Election Code, is amended by
1111 adding Subsection (d-1) to read as follows:
1212 (d-1) An election officer conducting a joint primary
1313 election may not:
1414 (1) suggest a party's ballot to a voter; or
1515 (2) discuss any race on the ballot with a voter.
1616 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
1717 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
1818 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
1919 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2020 Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
