| 10 | 10 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 11 | 11 | | SECTION 1. Section 64.032(d), Election Code, is amended to |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | read as follows: |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | (d) If assistance is provided by a person of the voter's |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | choice, the person shall provide a photo identification to an |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | election officer and the officer shall enter the person's name and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | address on the poll list beside the voter's name. |

| 17 | 17 | | SECTION 2. Subchapter B, Chapter 64, Election Code, is |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | amended by adding Section 64.0325 to read as follows: |

| 19 | 19 | | Sec. 64.0325. SOLICITING VOTERS TO PROVIDE ASSISTANCE |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | PROHIBITED. (a) A person who is not an election officer may not |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | solicit voters to provide voting assistance, including assistance |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | provided during the period for early voting by personal appearance |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | and assistance provided under Section 86.010. |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | (b) A person commits an offense if the person violates |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Subsection (a). An offense under this subsection is a Class A |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | misdemeanor. |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
