104 AN ACT
115 relating to training requirements for peace officers appointed to
126 supervisory positions.
137 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
148 SECTION 1. Section 1701.352(d), Occupations Code, is
159 amended to read as follows:
1610 (d) A peace officer who is appointed or will be appointed to
1711 the officer's first supervisory position must receive in-service
1812 training on supervision as part of the course provided for the
1913 officer under Subsection (b) not earlier than the 12th month before
2014 the date of that appointment or later than the first anniversary of
2115 [during the 24-month period after] the date of that appointment.
2216 SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only
2317 to an appointment made on or after the effective date of this Act.
2418 An appointment made before the effective date of this Act is
2519 governed by the law in effect on the date the appointment was made,
2620 and the former law is continued in effect for that purpose.
2721 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
