| 6 | 6 | | relating to the purchase of certain insurance coverage and the |

| 7 | 7 | | performance of related risk management services for the University |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | of North Texas System and the component institutions of that |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | system. |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 11 | 11 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 412, Section 412.011, |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Labor Code, is amended by amending Subsections (c) and (e) and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | adding Subsection (j) to read as follows: |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | (c) The office shall: |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | (1) perform risk management for each state agency |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | subject to Chapter 412 |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | this chapter, except to any extent limited |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | by Subsection (j); and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | (2) purchase insurance coverage under any line of |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | insurance other than health or life insurance, including liability |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | insurance authorized under Chapter 612, Government Code, for a |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | state agency subject to Chapter 501, except for: |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | (A) an institution subject to Section 501.022; or |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | (B) the University of North Texas System and its |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | component institutions. under any line of insurance other than |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | health or life insurance, including liability insurance authorized |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | under Chapter 612, Government Code. |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | (e) A state agency subject to Chapter 501, except for an |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | institution subject to Section 501.022 or the University of North |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Texas System and its component institutions, may not purchase |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | property, casualty, or liability insurance coverage without the |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | approval of the board. |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | (j) The University of North Texas System and its component |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | institutions shall perform risk management services related to |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | insurance coverage purchased without board approval under this |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | section. |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 40 | 40 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 41 | 41 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
