The bill would amend the Health and Safety Code to permit certain public hospitals to construct and operate a hospital project anywhere in the state as long as it is consistent with purpose of the project and the project is a legitimate public purpose of the issuer. The bill would add "nursing facilities, assisted living facilities and multiunit senior housing facilities" to the list of projects that a hospital is permitted to construct as a hospital project. Local Government Impact There could be costs to a local governmental entity that chose to establish a hospital project. However, it is assumed that a hospital would establish a project only if sufficient funds were available or it would not result in a negative fiscal impact; therefore, no significant fiscal impact is anticipated.
