99 relating to the compensation of associate judges appointed to hear
1010 Title IV-D cases or child protection cases.
1111 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1212 SECTION 1. Section 201.105, Family Code, is amended to read
1313 as follows:
1414 Sec. 201.105. COMPENSATION OF ASSOCIATE JUDGE. (a) An
1515 associate judge appointed under this subchapter is entitled to
1616 receive from the state a salary in an amount equal to [be determined
1717 by a majority vote of the presiding judges of the administrative
1818 judicial regions. The salary may not exceed] 90 percent of the
1919 salary paid to a district judge as set by the General Appropriations
2020 Act.
2121 (b) Notwithstanding any other law, longevity pay paid to an
2222 associate judge under Section 659.044, Government Code, is not
2323 included as part of the [The] associate judge's salary amount
2424 provided by Subsection (a) [shall be paid from county funds
2525 available for payment of officers' salaries or from funds available
2626 from the state and federal government as provided by this
2727 subchapter].
2828 (c) The office of court administration in accordance with
2929 this subchapter may use federal funds obtained from the Title IV-D
3030 agency to cover the costs of an associate judge's salary.
3131 SECTION 2. Section 201.205, Family Code, is amended by
3232 amending Subsection (a) and adding Subsection (a-1) to read as
3333 follows:
3434 (a) An associate judge appointed under this subchapter is
3535 entitled to receive from the state a salary in an amount equal to
3636 [as determined by a majority vote of the presiding judges of the
3737 administrative judicial regions. The salary may not exceed] 90
3838 percent of the salary paid to a district judge as set by the state
3939 General Appropriations Act.
4040 (a-1) Notwithstanding any other law, longevity pay paid to
4141 an associate judge under Section 659.044, Government Code, is not
4242 included as part of the associate judge's salary amount provided by
4343 Subsection (a).
4444 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
