55 AN ACT
66 relating to bailiffs in the county courts at law of Tarrant County.
77 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
88 SECTION 1. Section 25.2222, Government Code, is amended to
99 read as follows:
1010 (c) At least one bailiff shall be assigned regularly to each
1111 of the county courts at law of Tarrant County.
1212 (c-1) The judge of each respective county court at law of
1313 Tarrant County may appoint one officer to act as bailiff of the
1414 judge's court. The bailiff appointed by the judge serves at the
1515 pleasure of the county court to which a bailiff is appointed, holds
1616 office at the will of the judge of the county court to which a
1717 bailiff is appointed, and shall perform the duties required by the
1818 judge of the court to which the bailiff is appointed.
1919 (c-2) If the judge of a county court at law of Tarrant County
2020 does not appoint an officer to act as bailiff, the sheriff of
2121 Tarrant County shall assign a bailiff for said court upon written
2222 request of the judge. The bailiff assigned by the sheriff serves at
2323 the pleasure of the county court to which a bailiff is assigned, and
2424 shall perform the duties required by the judge of the court to which
2525 the bailiff is assigned.
2626 (c-3) Upon request of a county court at law judge, the
2727 sheriff shall immediately assign a bailiff to the county court at
2828 law to fill any temporary absence of the regularly appointed or
2929 assigned bailiff.
3030 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
