77 relating to leave for certain veterans returning to state

99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Subchapter Z, Chapter 661, Government Code, is
1111 amended by adding Section 661.923 to read as follows:
1212 Sec. 661.923. LEAVE FOR REEMPLOYED VETERANS. (a) Except as
1313 provided by Subsection (b), a state employee who is reemployed by a
1414 state agency after military service as provided by Section 437.204
1515 or Chapter 613 may be granted leave to tend to matters relating to
1616 the employee's military service or reintegration into civilian
1717 life, including obtaining medical or mental health care and
1818 receiving employee assistance counseling. Leave granted under this
1919 section may not exceed 15 days each fiscal year without a deduction
2020 in salary or loss of vacation time, sick leave, earned overtime
2121 credit, or state compensatory time.
2222 (b) The administrative head of a state agency may annually
2323 grant additional days of leave described by Subsection (a) as the
2424 administrative head determines appropriate for the employee.
2525 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
