55 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
66 AN ACT
77 relating to concurrent jurisdiction of a statutory county court
88 with a district court in certain civil cases.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Section 25.0003(c), Government Code, is amended
1111 to read as follows:
1212 (c) In addition to other jurisdiction provided by law, a
1313 statutory county court exercising civil jurisdiction concurrent
1414 with the constitutional jurisdiction of the county court has
1515 concurrent jurisdiction with the district court in:
1616 (1) civil cases in which the matter in controversy
1717 exceeds $500 but does not exceed $200,000, excluding interest[,
1818 statutory or punitive damages and penalties, and attorney's fees
1919 and costs, as alleged on the face of the petition]; and
2020 (2) appeals of final rulings and decisions of the
2121 division of workers' compensation of the Texas Department of
2222 Insurance regarding workers' compensation claims, regardless of
2323 the amount in controversy.
2424 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
