9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 25.0003(c), Government Code, is amended | |
11 | 11 | to read as follows: | |
12 | 12 | (c) In addition to other jurisdiction provided by law, a | |
13 | 13 | statutory county court exercising civil jurisdiction concurrent | |
14 | 14 | with the constitutional jurisdiction of the county court has | |
15 | 15 | concurrent jurisdiction with the district court in: | |
16 | 16 | (1) civil cases in which the matter in controversy | |
17 | 17 | exceeds $500 but does not exceed $200,000, excluding interest[, | |
18 | 18 | statutory or punitive damages and penalties, and attorney's fees | |
19 | 19 | and costs, as alleged on the face of the petition]; and | |
20 | 20 | (2) appeals of final rulings and decisions of the | |
21 | 21 | division of workers' compensation of the Texas Department of | |
22 | 22 | Insurance regarding workers' compensation claims, regardless of | |
23 | 23 | the amount in controversy. | |
24 | 24 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
