7 | 7 | relating to the Medicaid eligibility of certain women after a | |
8 | 8 | pregnancy. | |
9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 32.024, Human Resources Code, is amended | |
11 | 11 | by adding Subsection (l-1) to read as follows: | |
12 | 12 | (l-1) The department shall continue to provide medical | |
13 | 13 | assistance to a woman who is eligible for medical assistance as a | |
14 | 14 | pregnant woman for a period of not less than six months following | |
15 | 15 | the date the woman gives birth. | |
16 | 16 | SECTION 2. If before implementing any provision of this Act | |
17 | 17 | a state agency determines that a waiver or authorization from a | |
18 | 18 | federal agency is necessary for implementation of that provision, | |
19 | 19 | the agency affected by the provision shall request the waiver or | |
20 | 20 | authorization and may delay implementing that provision until the | |
21 | 21 | waiver or authorization is granted. | |
22 | 22 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
23 | 23 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
24 | 24 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
25 | 25 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
26 | 26 | Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
