55 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
66 AN ACT
77 relating to the Medicaid eligibility of certain women after a
88 pregnancy.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Section 32.024, Human Resources Code, is amended
1111 by adding Subsection (l-1) to read as follows:
1212 (l-1) The department shall continue to provide medical
1313 assistance to a woman who is eligible for medical assistance as a
1414 pregnant woman for a period of not less than six months following
1515 the date the woman gives birth.
1616 SECTION 2. If before implementing any provision of this Act
1717 a state agency determines that a waiver or authorization from a
1818 federal agency is necessary for implementation of that provision,
1919 the agency affected by the provision shall request the waiver or
2020 authorization and may delay implementing that provision until the
2121 waiver or authorization is granted.
2222 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2323 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2424 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2525 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2626 Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
