11 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

12 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Section 61.9772(b), Education Code, is amended |
---|
13 | 11 | | to read as follows: |

14 | 12 | | (b) In each year, the governor and the lieutenant governor |
---|
15 | 13 | | may each appoint two students and each state senator and each state |
---|
16 | 14 | | representative may appoint one student to receive an initial |
---|
17 | 15 | | scholarship under this subchapter. If a student appointed under |
---|
18 | 16 | | this subsection to receive a scholarship fails to maintain |
---|
19 | 17 | | eligibility or otherwise meet the requirements to continue |
---|
20 | 18 | | receiving the scholarship, the elected official who appointed the |
---|
21 | 19 | | student may appoint another student eligible under this subchapter |
---|
22 | 20 | | to receive any available funds designated for the student |
---|
23 | 21 | | originally appointed. |
---|
24 | 22 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
