55 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
66 AN ACT
77 relating to a study on early detection and early intervention in
88 cases of children with autism spectrum disorders.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. (a) The Department of Aging and Disability
1111 Services shall conduct a study on:
1212 (1) early detection and early intervention in cases of
1313 children with autism spectrum disorders, including the accurate
1414 diagnosis of children with autism spectrum disorders at birth;
1515 (2) the educational and developmental benefits of
1616 early diagnosis and the prompt provision of therapy to children
1717 diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders; and
1818 (3) potential legislative solutions to promote early
1919 diagnosis and early intervention in cases of children with autism
2020 spectrum disorders.
2121 (b) Not later than December 1, 2016, the commissioner of
2222 aging and disability services shall provide a report on the results
2323 of the study to the governor, the lieutenant governor, and the
2424 legislature.
2525 (c) This section expires September 1, 2017.
2626 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
