9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
10 | 10 | SECTION 1. The heading to Section 173.062, Election Code, | |
11 | 11 | is amended to read as follows: | |
12 | 12 | Sec. 173.062. FEE PAID TO STATE CHAIR FOR DISTRICT OFFICES | |
13 | 13 | REMITTED TO SECRETARY OF STATE [ALLOCATED AMONG COUNTY COMMITTEES]. | |
14 | 14 | SECTION 2. Sections 173.062(a) and (c), Election Code, are | |
15 | 15 | amended to read as follows: | |
16 | 16 | (a) The [state chair shall allocate the] filing fee for a | |
17 | 17 | district office accompanying an application for a place on the | |
18 | 18 | ballot filed with the state chair during the regular filing period | |
19 | 19 | shall be remitted to the secretary of state and deposited in the | |
20 | 20 | state treasury for the financing of primary election expenses | |
21 | 21 | submitted by [among] the county executive committees serving the | |
22 | 22 | counties comprising the district from which the fees were | |
23 | 23 | collected. | |
24 | 24 | (c) The state chair shall deliver to the secretary of state | |
25 | 25 | a list of the district offices and the total amount of all filing | |
26 | 26 | fees for each district office [each committee's allocation to the | |
27 | 27 | county chair] not later than the 10th day after the date of the | |
28 | 28 | regular filing deadline. | |
29 | 29 | SECTION 3. Sections 173.062(b) and (d), Election Code, are | |
30 | 30 | repealed. | |
31 | 31 | SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
