7 | 7 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
8 | 8 | SECTION 1. Section 1251.052 of the Estates Code is amended | |
9 | 9 | to read as follows: | |
10 | 10 | Sec. 1251.052. QUALIFICATION AND DURATION OF CERTAIN | |
11 | 11 | TEMPORARY GUARDIANSHIPS. (a) A temporary guardian appointed under | |
12 | 12 | Section 1251.051 must qualify in the same form and manner required | |
13 | 13 | of a guardian under this title. | |
14 | 14 | (b) The term of a temporary guardian appointed under Section | |
15 | 15 | 1251.051 expires: | |
16 | 16 | (1) at the conclusion of the hearing challenging or | |
17 | 17 | contesting the application; | |
18 | 18 | (2) on the date a permanent guardian appointed by the | |
19 | 19 | court for the proposed ward qualifies to serve as the ward's | |
20 | 20 | guardian; or | |
21 | 21 | (3) at the expiration of six months from the date of | |
22 | 22 | qualification of the temporary guardian unless it is extended upon | |
23 | 23 | court order after a motion to extend is filed and a hearing is held | |
24 | 24 | whichever comes first. |
