8 | 8 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
9 | 9 | SECTION 1. Section 65.001, Health and Safety Code, is | |
10 | 10 | amended to read as follows: | |
11 | 11 | (a) Sec. 65.001. LIFEGUARD CERTIFICATION. Swimming | |
12 | 12 | instructors and lifeguards at public swimming pools must be | |
13 | 13 | certified by the American Red Cross, the Y.M.C.A., or other | |
14 | 14 | nationally recognized aquatic training program, in swimming | |
15 | 15 | instruction, first aid, CPR, and be trained in drowning risk | |
16 | 16 | prevention. | |
17 | 17 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
18 | 18 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
19 | 19 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
20 | 20 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
21 | 21 | Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
