| 10 | 10 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 11 | 11 | SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 38, Education Code, is | |
| 12 | 12 | amended by adding Section 38.028 to read as follows: | |
| 13 | 13 | Sec. 38.028. REPORT OF STUDENT DEATHS TO AGENCY. Not later | |
| 14 | 14 | than July 1 of each year, each school district and open-enrollment | |
| 15 | 15 | charter school shall report to the agency the number of student | |
| 16 | 16 | deaths that occurred during the preceding school year. The report | |
| 17 | 17 | must include the age and grade level of each student at the time of | |
| 18 | 18 | death and the cause of death. | |
| 19 | 19 | SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2015-2016 | |
| 20 | 20 | school year. | |
| 21 | 21 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
| 22 | 22 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
| 23 | 23 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
| 24 | 24 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
| 25 | 25 | Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
