The bill would amend the Government Code to require the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) to establish a voluntary veterans rehabilitation and transition program for certain TDCJ offenders as specified in the bill, as well as establish a TDCJ veterans services coordinator to be responsible for certain duties. TDCJ indicates that any costs associated with the bill could be absorbed within the agency's existing resources. The bill would take effect September 1, 2015.
