77 relating to consent for the donation of blood or blood components by

99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Section 162.015, Health and Safety Code, is
1111 amended to read as follows:
1212 Sec. 162.015. DONATION OF BLOOD BY PERSONS YOUNGER THAN 18
1313 YEARS OF AGE. [A person who is 17 years of age may consent to the
1414 donation of the person's blood or blood components.] A person
1515 younger than 18 years of age may not:
1616 (1) donate blood or blood components without the
1717 consent of a parent, managing conservator, guardian, or other
1818 person who is legally authorized to consent to the person's medical
1919 care; or
2020 (2) receive any compensation from a blood bank for a
2121 donation of the person's blood or blood components.
2222 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
