9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 162.015, Health and Safety Code, is | |
11 | 11 | amended to read as follows: | |
12 | 12 | Sec. 162.015. DONATION OF BLOOD BY PERSONS YOUNGER THAN 18 | |
13 | 13 | YEARS OF AGE. [A person who is 17 years of age may consent to the | |
14 | 14 | donation of the person's blood or blood components.] A person | |
15 | 15 | younger than 18 years of age may not: | |
16 | 16 | (1) donate blood or blood components without the | |
17 | 17 | consent of a parent, managing conservator, guardian, or other | |
18 | 18 | person who is legally authorized to consent to the person's medical | |
19 | 19 | care; or | |
20 | 20 | (2) receive any compensation from a blood bank for a | |
21 | 21 | donation of the person's blood or blood components. | |
22 | 22 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
